Hailing from Los Angeles Kan Wakan has just released heavily anticipated album Phantasmagoria Vol. 1 via Murmur Music. Unlucky is our first encounter with Kan’s music and if this is anything to go by this is an artist we are going to be hearing a lot more about in future.

Unlucky is a track which channels many different sounds, from the fragile acoustic guitar and dreamlike vocals of the opening it morphs into energetic trip hop, the drum programming is sublime. The track develops yet further with the addition of a funk-fuelled bass-line. The arrangement here is excellent and packed with drama, this is a track which hooks you from the first note to the last.
