Red Rack Em Italo Disco Banger

Red Rack’em – Italo Disco
Banger

[Bergerac]

20 years since his debut as Red Rack’em, Danny Berman’s has crafted a new underground anthem: the vibrant and euphoric “Italo Disco Banger.”

This track playfully nods to his previous hit, “Wonky Bassline Disco Banger,” and has already gained support from heavyweights like Gerd Janson.

Bursting with joy, featuring sparkling piano riffs, soaring synth lines, lively female vocal snippets, and Rimini-ready guitar flourishes, all riding over a sequenced bassline and classic Italo-disco drums. With added booming bass pulses, it’s a guaranteed dancefloor hit.

On the flip side, “Hotline” veers into quirkier cut-up disco territory, showcasing Berman’s signature bassline wonkiness.

Purple Disco Machine Pink Flamingo Rhythm Revue Money Money

Purple Disco Machine / Pink Flamingo Rhythm Revue – Money Money (remixes)

[Toucan Sounds US]

Purple Disco Machine’s standout collaboration with Pink Flamingo Rhythm Review, “Money Money,” originally featured on his hit 2022 album Exotica, gets a fresh remix treatment.

This time around, the original mix is set aside in favor of three new versions.

London-based nu-disco veteran Yam Who takes over side A, transforming the track into a darker, chunkier slice of gritty nu-disco, complete with vibrant synths and celebratory vocal snippets.

On the flip side, Robert PM delivers vocal and instrumental deep house remixes at a techno tempo, blending high-energy beats with twisted P-funk elements and hazy, minor-key chords, perfect for peak-time moments.

Divine Who Weekend Dubbed Out

Divine Who – Weekend (Dubbed Out Mix)

[Divine Discs]

Divine Who’s self-titled gospel rework series is genuinely top-drawer. After a couple of tidy 12″ singles they offer up a seven-inch for the first time. A-side ‘Weekend (Dubbed Out Mix)’ is almost that well known classic but only with hints – a joyous and infectious mid-80s electrofunk-gospel number – and subtly touches it up and even more subtly dubs it out for modern dancefloors. On ‘Forget Me Nots’, they deliver their altar-ation (sorry) of an exquisitely soulful, tactile and loved-up cover version of Patrice Rushen favourite ‘Forget-me-Nots’ complete with a killer slap-bass breakdown.”

James Alexander Bright Cool Cool

James Alexander Bright –
Cool, Cool

[Athens Of The North]

“Cool Cool,” the standout title track from James Alexander Bright’s latest album, is a timeless soul gem.

With its tender musicianship and stripped-back production, it highlights James’ enchanting voice, reminiscent of Eddie Chacon, Beck, and Michael McDonald.

The flip side features a beautifully psychedelic dub version by Athens of the North’s in-house band, East Coast Love Affair.

“Cool Cool” has garnered global support, with Bright performing for Gilles Peterson, creating a Block Party mix for Huey Morgan, and receiving airplay on top stations like BBC 6 Music, FIP, Jazz FM, KCRW, and NTS.

Since 2020, James has released a string of acclaimed projects, including EPs, two albums, and collaborations with the Flying Mojito Bros and Groove Armada’s Tom Findlay. “Cool Cool,” his third solo album, was released on July 26, 2024.

Late Nite City Everybody

Late Nite City – Everybody

[Late Nite]

Late Nite City is the exciting new project from house producer and South Records founder George Smeddles, To The Rock label co-founder Danny Langan, and multi-instrumentalist Josh Cutler.

Their debut release, a Chicago-inspired house track called “Everybody,” marks the beginning of this fresh venture with style.

Infused with the essence of classic house music, it’s a dance floor anthem perfectly timed for summer, featuring sizzling, swinging drums, punchy piano stabs, and smooth trumpet melodies courtesy of the talented King Crowney.

No release would be complete without a dub version, and the ‘Get Down Dub’ delivers a late-night twist on the original. With a faster tempo and intensified drums, it offers a deeper, more serious groove while remaining irresistibly danceable.
