Thankfully there is nothing at all scary about the state of the Disco world which is in rude health at the moment between an incredible landslide of releases, stunning club nights and the tail end of the season’s festivals. As always Midnight Riot is keeping the disco juice flowing with classy releases landing from Audiowhores, Yam Who, Jaegerossa and Suki Soul who also pops up alongside Disco Sparks whilst UK house legend Booker T drops in with a wonderful remix of Yam Who? & Brian Lucas and Mr Smith’s Set Fire to Me which you can check below. Mr Bongo presents the latest volume of its Record Club series, a collection of new discoveries and cherished classics from Brazilian, Latin, soul, disco, gospel, dancehall, and downtempo genres.
This volume features a diverse range of artists, including Os Panteras, Claude Jay, Gitte & Inger, and Truth & Devotion.
While most tracks are vintage gems, we’ve included a special contemporary piece, “Spring Has Sprung,” recorded exclusively for this release by Asha Puthli, SOYUZ, and Sven Wunder.
Volume 7 focuses on two themes: rich Brazilian sounds, with artists like As Sublimes and Conjunto de Percussão Dora Pinto, and dance floor-ready disco tracks like “Come Inside” by The Shades of Love. We hope these selections inspire you as much as they do us.

Stimulator Jones – I Would Have To Be A Fool
[Tugboat Editions]
Tugboat Editions, the sister label of Chicago’s Star Creature Records, specialises in modern takes on vintage tunes, releasing them on 7″ vinyl. Though small in size, these records pack a big punch and are available in top record shops worldwide.
Next up is Virginia’s Stimulator Jones with his cover of Ben White’s “I Would Have To Be A Fool.” A multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter, Jones made waves with his soulful R&B hit “Soon Never Comes” and released four addictive albums on Stones Throw Records, blending hip hop, jazz, and R&B.
In 2023, Jones expanded his sound with the liquid drum & bass EP “Valley Centre” and the house-boogie fusion “The Stimulator Tracks Volume 1.” Now, he returns to Star Creature with a fresh 7” vinyl release, delivering a full-cover treatment of White’s modern soul gem, perfect for today’s sound systems with a nod to classic vibes.

Acclaimed French producer and DJ Tommy Glasses continues to make waves in the NuDisco and House scene with his latest single, “Time,” released on Fool’s Paradise for their 20th release.
Known for his irresistible dance floor grooves, Tommy blends funky basslines, chic strings, bubbling synths, and a catchy femme vocal, all with a nod to the 80s, adding a touch of glamour to the track.
Hailing from the south of France, Tommy began remixing tracks at 14 and signed his first track by 17. His unique blend of Soul, Funk, Disco, and House has earned him releases on major labels like Midnight Riot and Nervous Records, with support from DJs and radio stations across Europe.

Lovetempo – Maybe In Another Life
[Lovetempo]
Lovetempo, the project of Mattie Safer (Poolside, The Rapture), blends saudade, jazz-funk, and modern dance floor vibes.
His debut on Razor-N-Tape received praise, and his recent single “But I Do,” a collaboration with producer Dougie Stu, became a summer favourite, even catching the attention of Gilles Peterson.
Now, Safer returns with “Maybe In Another Life,” a slow-burn disco track featuring soaring strings, a steady groove, and reflections on love’s timing.
Perfect for both Saturday night warmups and Sunday morning chill sessions, the track includes a remix by disco producer Bosq, known for delighting dancers and earning support from top DJs.

Joi N’ Juno – Samemala
[Canopy Records]
“Samemala” is the debut album from Joi N’Juno and marks the second release on the Portuguese label Canopy.
Joi N’Juno, aka David Baluteau, is a vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, producer, and seasoned studio engineer. He previously founded and fronted the cult French drum & bass-electro-punk band La Phaze, which ran successfully for 25 years and recently wrapped up a two-year tour.
The album draws from a mix of influences, including 70s and 80s disco (à la Nile Rodgers), Zouk boogie from Kassav, Afro Funk from Nigeria, and modern disco house. It blends punchy production, funky guitars, groovy basslines, and infectious vocal melodies with skillful keyboard work, creating a sound perfect for both the dance floor and broader pop appeal.

Dominic Dawson & ROY INC – Rhythm Syren
[Momotaro Music]
The debut album from producer Dominic Dawson and model, singer, and co-producer ROY INC. began in 2019 but was paused during Covid.
They resumed recording in 2022, with Dominic later moving to Tokyo to finalize mixing.
The album blends various dance genres, from funk and boogie to soulful house and electro, reflecting their diverse musical tastes.
A key theme is celebrating the achievements of people of color and the LGBTQ+ community.
Featuring 15 contributors, including Chaz Jankel, Francis Hylton, and Sulene Fleming, the album explores universal human emotions and takes listeners on a musical journey.

Tokyo Joe Orchestra & Angel-A – I Release You
[Universo Positivo]
Founded in 2024 by Joseph Salvador, Universo Positivo has made a strong debut with releases by Dutch techno legend Orlando Voorn and Detroit’s late Amp Fiddler.
Their next release, “I Release You,” comes from Tokyo Joe Orchestra of the cult label TINK! It features original beats, organic bass, orchestral stabs, and arpeggios reminiscent of soulful disco and boogie, crafted using vintage analog synths.
Detroit native Angel-A, praised for her songwriting and vocals, lends her voice to the track. Orlando Voorn delivers a deep “Goosebump Remix,” while UK producer Reece Johnson adds a soulful rework.
The release includes the original, a remix by Voorn, a vibey version from Johnson, and an instrumental for those who prefer it without vocals.
