Joey Coco & Jason Hodges 11 Jackin’ House Jams
We are showing some more love for Refuge Recordings this month following our Label Love feature with them a few weeks back where I spoke to label don Oscar de Lima about all things Refuge. You can check that interview along with a wicked club mix that Oscar put together for us HERE.
Now it’s time to focus in on Refuge’s latest release, Joey Coco and Jason Hodges monster Jackin’ House jam Valentino ft Emerson Alexander.
Easily one of the hottest records of the year so far, Valentino lands with 4 mixes from the classic soulful jack of the Original mix through to the throbbing Hodges Acidic Dubtool whilst the instrumental and JC’s deeper vocal cut see it cover all bases. Make no mistake this one is a HUGE club jam which has already seen support from Inland Knights, Sebb Junior, Mark Farina & Harri Subclub. You can grab it HERE
To celebrate the release we asked Joey and Jason to give us a run down of their 11 all time favourite Jackin’ House tracks and it’s safe to say that they went in hard with classics from Sneak, Theo Parrish & Jt Donaldson, a double header from Demuir, dirty club heat from Jonny Fiasco, Mike Grant and many more. This list will 100% have you heading straight to Discogs and Traxsource.
Joey Coco’s Picks
DJ Sneak – You can’t hide from your bud.
One of the most iconic – can’t go past this classic DJ Sneak
Victor Simonelli ft Jeannie Hooper – How Many Tears
The hats give it jackin’ but still emotive and laid back with the iconic sample.
Jt Donaldson – Do Dat
Absolute groover, can’t not nod your head
Theo Parrish – Original Weirdo
Off-kilter but Theo Parrish never misses.
Demuir – DaT Fonk
One of my favourites from the big brozy Demuir – Scream Soda in the building!
Jason Hodges Picks
Jason Hodges feat William Alexander – Our World (Demuir’s Payboi Edit)
William engages you with his flow right off from the start and doesn’t let up till that sample hits… Room goes off!
Kenny Dope & Raheem DeVaughn – MJ (Kenny Dope Drops Mix)
This is a super fun track with that extremely catchy chorus shining through, it gets to the vibe where it needs to be very quickly , everybody loves it.
Borrowed Identity – Dans La Nuit
Those moody chords take you in, while that infectious beat keeps you locked in… It’s a no brainer crowd favorite!
.Xtrak -Multiplexor
Always have love that Detroir Sh*t, this is a party track sand goes well with… everything
Mike Grant – The struggle of my people (Mr G’s There’s no hope mix)
Such a nice tune, grabs U right from the start then continues with that Mr G groove as that sample takes over at the break…. what a journey!
David Duriez – No time to lose (Johnny Fiasco Dirty Hands Mix)
One of my favoruite remixes of all time… this just explodes at the drop when it exposes that infectious synth riff and that low pass filter…. Woooo!
