80’s Child (Masterworks Music) – FACEBOOK
My Pick Is – Mix & Fairbanks – Shergars Revenge [House Of Disco]
My selection for the end of year round up comes in the shape of Mix & Fairbanks – Shergars Revenge on House Of Disco. There has been some quality music that’s come out of 2019 but this is in a league of it’s own.
Alkalino (Audaz) – FACEBOOK
My Pick Is – Storken – Lille Vals [Running Back Music]
I have been playing this one in the last part of my sets. Its one of feel-good tracks.
Amy B Douglas (Glitterbox / DFA) – FACEBOOK
My Pick Is – Extra Credit – Emotional Makeup [Warm]
The trio of Justin Strauss, Marcus Marr and Joe Goddard! Now, I could be accused of rooting for the team with this one, after all, Justin gave Never Saw It Coming an outrageously inspired remix that seems to keep making it’s way deeper into the public consciousness and not only are Joe and I working on music on our Hard Feelings Project, but I had the pleasure of laying down vocals for an upcoming Extra Credit tune. At the risk of sounding all fancy I also had the pleasure of hearing Emotional Makeup in Joe’s studio in Hoxton Square, and loved it, along with the other finished or nearly finished material I’d heard! It was one of the best weeks of 2019 for me for sure.
Andy Buchan (Hot Digits / Masterworks / Paper) – FACEBOOK
My Pick Is – Terr – Tale Of Devotion (Prins Thomas Diskomiks) [Phantasy Sound]
I could have chosen any number of TERR tracks, but this Prins Thomas mix hits all the right notes – driving, evolving, cosmic and brilliant use of the heavenly vocals. It’s disco, it’s house, it’s modern, it’s a bit retro. It’s just brilliant.
Angelo Ferreri (Mood Funk / Monside) – FACEBOOK
MY Pick Is – Moon Rocket – Fascinated By You [Moon Rocket Music]
In this song I can feel the sensitivity and the talent of a true artist. Moon Rocket is also a great friend, but beyond that, I’m fascinated by his performances. Certainly one of the songs that struck me most in 2019.
Apparel Wax (Apparel Music) – FACEBOOK
Our Pick Is – Chevals – Never Will I Leave You Baby [Masterworks]
Chevals is one of the producers we love the most. His way of mixing up the classical elements of disco music with his modern approach makes him special. We’re preparing something with him for the future, by the way.
Art of Tones (Local Talk / Mood Funk / Wewillalwaysbealovesong) – FACEBOOK
My Pick Is – Gaoulé Mizik – A Ka Titine – Detroit Swindle Edit
A big track for me, I had to stop playing it because I was playing it too much in my sets 🙂 Every time I played it, people went totally nuts. The Percussion makes it such a funky track, and the creole singing really gives this thing a special taste. The track slowly goes into deep house area at the end. Whats not to love? Definitely my favourite 2019 track. Unfortunately not released officially.
Baltimore Chop (Poetry In Motion / PRGVSK Records) – FACEBOOK
My Pick Is – Etur Usheo – Lights [GLBDOM]
I happened to master this track for my buddy’s label from Russia called GLBDOM and I remember the moment I played it first time in the studio I was instantly sure this track is a dancefloor banger. It’s got this perfect combination of old school vocal samples and that classic house groove with a really tasty bassline. The whole track is really catchy and is just made to set the dancefloor on fire. A couple weeks after I gave the masters back I was playing a gig in St. Petersburg and threw this track the middle of the night and the dancefloor was on fire right away. I absolutely love Etur’s stuff and Lights is one of the standout tracks of the year for me for sure.
Barry & Gibbs (Masterworks / Sakura) – FACEBOOK
Our Pick Is – Horse Meat Disco & Kathy Sledge – Falling Deep In Love (Joey Negro 12 Disco Blend) [Glitterbox]
This track represents all that we love in a disco track, it’s powerful and dancefloor. It also has both the classic disco spirit and everything that new disco should be!
Bustin’ Loose (Toy Tonics / The Disco Express) – FACEBOOK
My Pick Is – Ubblahkan – Odyssey (Art Of Tones Remix) [Seven Music]
Art of Tones on remix duties for this one and it oozes swagger. If this doesn’t make you dance nothing will
C. Da Afro (Midnight Riot / Tropical Disco) – FACEBOOK
My Pick Is – Moodena – Boogie Monsta [Tropical Disco]
This year for sure Tropical Disco Records deserves the spotlight. They have had excellent releases both on vinyl and digital. Dancefloor ready jams & grooves for everyone’s sets. My most played track, is Moodena’s Boogie Monsta. Pure success on every drop.
Cédric FunkyDeps – FACEBOOK
My Pick Is – Jamiroquai – Cosmic Girl (Dimitri From Paris Remix) [Le Edits]
I chose this track because it is a really great rework. The break from the beginning is really excellent and the strings perfectly meet the mood and groove of the song. The mixing also gives the track a groove compared to the original. Dimitri From Paris shows how amazing he is with each disco remix he produces.
Chevals (Masterworks / Tropical Disco) – FACEBOOK
My Pick Is – Funkatron – Imagination [Moon Rocket Music]
This track has everything you need to make your feet move on the dancefloor! A banging piano riff with its fully dedicated bassline, just a bit of disco strings, airy vocals, and a groovy house beat!
Chris Massey (Sprechen) – FACEBOOK
My Pick Is – Cinthie – Infinity [803 Crystal Grooves]
So for this year there’s been a ton of ace tracks that have worked wonders but a surefire everytime has been Infinity by Cinthie. Stripped back and so simple & straight forward yet absolutely slamming! I have dropped it peak-time at a couple of Supernature Disco parties and also at the Homobloc after party (amongst loads more) and each time it just works and still makes the hairs on the back of my neck tingle!
Chuggin Edits (Slightly Transformed) – FACEBOOK
My Pick Is – Dabeull Feat Holybrune – Day & Night [Roche Musique]
You get to hear so much music that not many tracks stand out any more but this one definitely does just that. I love that squelchy retro sound he has it reminds me of the 80s.
Cody Currie (Toy Tonics / Razer-N-Tape) – FACEBOOK
My Pick Is – Kaidi Tatham – Sugar [First Word Records]
I have been really into this track recently. The musicianship is excellent as always by Kaidi Tatham. The chord progression is very original.
David Elders (MFSB Edinburgh) – FACEBOOK
My Pick Is – The Vision – Home [Defected Records]
The track I’ve personally caned the most this year would be the flipside of the one everyone else was playing. Heaven was a dancer no doubt but Home was the track that really pushed the buttons for those in the know. Utterly standout track of 2019 for me, shades of Motown and Amy Winehouse and dripping in emotion with lyrics to boot. A properly sensual track and an end-of-the-night anthem for me.
De Gama (Samosa Records / Daje Funk) – FACEBOOK
My Pick Is – The Truckin’ Company – Got The Feeling (Massimo Berardi Edit)[Daje Funk]
The fact is that I love this edit a lot but I wasn’t too keen on the original song… and that shows the class of this edit, IMHO. Massimo Berardi did a very good job here and it’s also a floorfiller for any part of the night!!! 10/10
Dirtyelements (Daje Funk / Masterworks / Samosa Records) – FACEBOOK
My Pick Is – Dicky Trisco & Love Drop – Waiting For The Sax [Dead Horse]
Fantastic groovy funky and excellent saxophone … music to move your head to!
DJ Ferdinand Debeaufort – FACEBOOK
My Pick Is – Les inferno – Making Me Sweat [Samosa Records]
There has been a lot of noise recently about Samosa Records and there is very good reason for that! This one is made by one of the bosses himself. The track is full of groovy guitars, a beautiful soulful voice and a huge beat which go right to your heart. This one is made to kill the dancefloor.
DJ Rocca (Spa In Disco / Samosa Records) – FACEBOOK
My Pick Is – The Astral Walkers - Don’t Fear The Sound (Full Expansion) [Needs Music]
This track blew my mind…jazz, house and disco in a magical 14 minutes journey! 😍
Doctor Soul (Midnight Riot / Plaizir Muzic) – FACEBOOK
My Pick Is – Qwestlife + Sugarhill Gang, GrandMaster Melle Mel & Scorpio – Fever (Kon Remix)
Parteee anthem at its best!.. All the ingredients are on point for this brilliant recipe: Catchy hook + excellent features + great production = Top notch track !
Don Dayglow (Citizens of Vice / Particle Zoo) – FACEBOOK
My Pick Is – Lauer – Phaser7. [Running Back]
It channels my favourite elements of Italo Disco, and laces it with German beefiness and Norwegian playfulness. A truly Eurocentric slice of dance-floor candy.
Drunkdrivers (Daje Funk / Masterworks / Samosa Records) – FACEBOOK
Our Pick Is – Will Hofbauer – Work It [Samosa Records]
A groovy bassline, perfect for smashing the dancefloor.
Final DJS (Love Harder Records / Soave) – FACEBOOK
My Pick Is – Midnight Pool Party – Slide (Anoraak Remix) [Midnight Pool Party]
I have been a fan of Anoraak for many years and with these jazzy ´n funky vibes he proves again to be a top notch Nu Disco musician. The vocals are fantastic on this one as well, so this is a perfect track and my pick for 2019.
Fingerman (Hot Digits Music) – FACEBOOK
My Pick Is – T-Connection – Do What You Wanna Do (Moplen Extended Remix)
When I heard someone like Moplen was gonna do this remix I was chomping at the bit! I needed it in my life before I had even heard it! It’s been my favourite disco record since the beginning and having heard a few edits of it before (I even did one myself when I first began editing records myself) I needed to hear a proper stems rework that actually did the track justice. After what seemed like ages it finally got the release it deserved on the original label and my god was it worth the wait. Both the Vocal version and the Dub will be in the box for a LONG time.
Fouk (Outplay / 24 Carrot / Heist) – FACEBOOK
Our Picks Are – Cinthie – Everything I Say [Beste Modus 09]
Everytime we play it, it goes down really well. When those synth chords come in after the intro people throw their hands in the air 🙂
And – KX9000 – Itusu Waru [Blaq Numbers]
Been playing this loads and you can play this at any moment of your set. Instant fire!
Fran Deeper (Spa In Disco) – FACEBOOK
My Pick is – The Silver Rider – Woman (Original Mix) [Whiskey Disco]
This track is very well done with an awesome groove. Without a doubt one of the tracks of 2019
Frank Situation (Situationism) – FACEBOOK
My Pick Is – Andromeda Orchestra – Don’t Stop (Ray Mang Special Extended Mix) [Faze Action Records]
Robin Lee & Ray Mang combined = disco heaven! Instant classic from the first time I heard it and every time I play it out it rips up the dance floor…
GMGN (Midnight Riot) – FACEBOOK
My Pick Is – Rockers Revenge – What About The People (Full Intention Dub) [Baked Recordings]
A song doesn’t need to be complicated to be effective – those catchy vocals, the infectious bassline … this one always got the dance floor moving for me in 2019. The other mixes are great too!
Groove Assassin (Things May Change) – FACEBOOK
My Pick Is – Crackazat – Fly Away [Z Records]
The whole Period Works 2 EP is superb but this track brings back so many great memories and it’s my good friend Pete Simpson delivering the killer vocals. The original & Audiowhores mixes were amazing but Crackazat takes this one to new heights.
Hifi Sean (Plastique Recordings / Midnight Riot / Glitterbox) – FACEBOOK
My Pick Is – Alex Virgo – This might take some time [Pomme Frite]
If there is one track I have played more in sets than any other this year its this one. 100% certified that it slowly sends people into a euphoric hypnotised rush of pure joy and ecstasy.
Homero Espinosa (Moulton Music / Large Music) – FACEBOOK
My Pick Is – Louie Vega & The Martinez Brothers With Marc E. Bassy – Let It Go [Cuttin’ Headz]
Louie played an early test version of this song at our party back in April of this year. It’s a perfect blend of deep and funky and those vocals are so catchy! Louie Vega = G.O.A.T!
Hotmood (Discoweey / Tropical Disco) – FACEBOOK
My Pick Is – Black Chunes – Supernatural [Club U Nite Records]
This song makes me feel groovy, I love it, it’s the perfect combination
HP Vince (Chop Shop / Tropical Disco) – FACEBOOK
My Pick Is – Danny Cruz – Waiting (For You) (Original Mix) [Cruise Music]
Waiting (For You) is a very nice blend of disco, nudisco and jackin house. It’s groove makes you dance everytime.
Hurlee (Poetry In Motion / Tilly Jam) – FACEBOOK
My Pick Is – Weiss – Feel My Needs (Purple Disco Machine Remix) [Toolroom Records]
This remix is very special for me, I played it this year 2019, it has an incredible connection with the public …
Introbeatz (Lisztomania Records / Suol) – FACEBOOK
My Pick Is – Cinthie – Everything I Say [Beste Modus 09]
For me this one is just the definition of a good house tune. The punching raw drums, crispy chords and vocals that makes everyone wanna sing a long even though they don’t know the words!
Jaegerossa (Midnight Riot / Black Riot) – FACEBOOK
My Pick Is – Psychotropic – Hypnosis (Hifi Sean Remix) [Black Riot]
“This one goes out to all the disco/ravers
This track originally entered my psyche in 1989 as a fresh and slightly spotted face 16 year old. I first heard this in and around the Blackburn rave scene, a genre defining moment for me. It was a text book lesson on how to make a house/rave record simple, break beat, literally hypnotic. Pulling this project together for Black Riot was a dream, fortunately HIfi Sean was already a fan of the rave classic and returned his remix within a week. Quite simply it’s rave versus James Brown on acid. He delivered something which almost time travels between then and now! I’ve got to shout Gavin and Nick for agreeing to all this too, massive respect.”
Michael The Lion (Soul Clap) – FACEBOOK
My Pick Is – The Vision featuring Andreya Triana – Heaven [Defected Records]
This is the first song in a long time that I felt I absolutely had to have the moment it came out so I could play it in the club. I want to tip my cap to Kon for this – he’s been doing very good stuff for a very long time and this is his best work yet.
That’s it for part one folks. Check out Part 2 here: https://levisiteuronline.com/music/le-visiteur-online-top-tracks-of-2019-guest-picks-pt-2/
