Sai Galaxy has previously featured in our Disco Juice column with one of the essential disco tunes of the month. Our Disco editor Yam Who noted at the time that Sai’s music draws inspiration from 1970s Disco, Afro Disco & West African Funk and that many of the performers in the band are political refugees living in exile making music that is full of joy & positivity. Here he pops up again with another absolutely delicious Afro Disco EP yet again focusing on creating a live, warm and euphoric sound.

The Okere EP features a star studded line up including West African legends Steve Monite, Ghanaian singer Rob, multi-instrumentalist Simon Durrington, guitar maestro Alfred Bannerman and Egypt 80’s trumpet player Bade. It’s an EP overflowing with quality.

Given the sheer amount of cookie cutter music that lands in our inbox it’s always a pleasure to see an artist who clearly pours heart and soul into creating something special and truly timeless.

Our premier today from the EP is Sometimes it Rains which features Fijian vocalist Kaivili delivering a heartfelt vocal on this boogie tinged slice of soulful disco.

The EP also features Hold Me Tonight featuring Nigerian disco icon Steve Monite (best known for his mega hit “Only You”), Rich Man Poor Man (featuring Ghana’s very own Rob) and Okere featuring Bade. If you love warm boogie tinged disco packed full of world flavours, live instruments and vocal harmonies, this is a do not miss EP.
