Longtime friends Max Essa and Eddie C have teamed up to deliver a brand new EP ‘We live in the hills’ via Razor-N-Tape. Featuring four shimmering disco cuts, its a sun soaked, summer EP through and through. Perfect for those laid-back parties but with more than enough juice for the more discerning dancefloors out there.

We premiered the dreamy, spacey Save me from the EP a few days ago which you can check below. Make sure that you grab the EP HERE, it’s highly recommended!

To celebrate the EP’s release Max and Eddie have teamed up for a B2B playlist, showcasing some of their favourite cosmic Disco jams.

Max Essa & Eddie C – Le Visiteur B2B Playlist – 10 cosmic disco jams.

Malcolm Ironton/Francis Monkman – Wings of The Sun

MAX: Horizontal synth tranquility from 1979 on this amazing cut from the legendary KPM library.

Caetano Veloso – Maria Bethania

EDDIE: I think I heard this for the first time way back on Lovefingers blog and absolutely adored it at first listen. Didn’t hear it again until maybe 2016 when I was driving somewhere in Bahia with Dr. Dunks and I probably didn’t pick up the record until the latter part of last decade. I love Veloso’s incredibly unique singing style! What a beautiful song written to his sister Maria Bethania another remarkably accomplished Brazilian singer. Such a futuristic sound and rhythm to the music too that wouldn’t have been out of place at Mancuso’s Loft in the early 70s.

Zinc – Amazon

MAX: A Jacques Fred Petrus & Mauro Malavasi produced beauty from 1982. I too discovered this on the wonderful Lovefingers blog, probably sometime around 2005 – 2006. I’ve been playing it ever since.

Loose Ends – Hangin’ on a String (Dub Instrumental)

EDDIE: Possibly my favourite slow jam of all time. Perfectly produced electronic funk of the highest order. Super futuristic for the time and an absolute floor filler at the Woodbridge Pub in Detroit! Just listen to those 808s!

Sly & Robbie – Get To This Get To That (Dub Version)

MAX: Sly & Robbie produced by Bill Laswell/Material and mixed by Paul ‘Groucho’ Smykle, absolutely superb! Big tune in my Friday evening warm-up sets at the AKA Bar in London circa 2003.

Adu – Burkina Faso

EDDIE: This is a more recent discovery for me through the dynamic reissues of Emotional Rescue. Trying to tread the nether regions of Space Disco with my picks here. This is an almost unclassifiable tune genre-wise. Discogs calls it Reggae. Amazing. I was also trying to fit a shuffle tune in to match Max’s next selection.

Biba – Close To You (Instrumental Version)

MAX: One of my favorite Italo tracks, mixes really well into Magic Smile by Rosie Vela!

Track Addicts – 1986

EDDIE: Toronto’s Nick Holder is one of my favourite producers and this record has been in and out of my bag for the better part of the past 30 years. This one definitely takes you to outer space with its minimalist drums and dissonant diminished 5th acid line which adds an uneasy intensity to any mix!

Marina – Shaking With All Your love

MAX: I was given a copy of this a few years ago by my dear friend, the late, Takeo Toyama of Okinawa Delays. It never leaves the bag.

Asha Puthli – I’m Gonna Dance

EDDIE: I should include one actual certified disco selection. What a tune! I’m Gonna Dance has those moments that feel like the music will go on forever. Taking a space dance!
