Austin Ato – 10 Acts inspiring me right now.
Austin Ato is a producer who is definitely on a swift ascent at the moment with big releases recently on Futureboogie and Phonica White. His latest release sees him landing on the excellent Delusions of Grandeur with a brilliant double A Side ‘Ella / Putting It In My Way’ which you can check HERE
The release features 3 scintillating house tracks, ‘Ella’ is built around a huge effervescent groove with synth stabs galore and smooth pads giving it plenty of energy. ‘Putting it in my way’ comes with both a vocal and instrumental and is an altogether deeper offering but it is equally packed to the rafters with groove. This is a quite brilliant release so make sure that you get on it asap as we expect this one to fly out.
We caught up with Austin ahead of release to ask him which artists and track are inspiring him right now. You can check out his excellent Top 10 below along with some fantastic tracks.
Lord Echo ft Mara TK – Just Do You
Been playing this a lot, it’s just so hot.. I thought it was an old record too, but no. Fresh and new but sounding classic.
Cloudface – W W I
From Moodhut whose every release is pretty excellent. Love this EP as a whole and W W I is sublime.
Gilb’R – Pressure (Laurent Garnier rmx)
An amazing remix by the French master from 1997 where he takes the Versatile label boss’ original and flips into a techno thumper with a rattling piano but then goes surprisingly deep.
Peven Everett – Feelin You In And Out (Shelter Mix)
I can live inside Peven’s jazzy rollers like this for days. It’s a perfect sound.
Christy Essien Igbokwe – You Can’t Change A Man
Was turned on to this by Sarah Evans who has an NTS show called Pleasure Principle. An outrageously hot tune.
Jonny 5 – Tum Tum
Is this Bollywood sampling? It’s great, a drum machine tune with some arp’d bass and edited sample.
Black Sheep – Strobelite Honey (David Morales Def Mix)
Just put this in a recent mix, this tune is amazing. Morales in fine form cutting up bits of a 90’s UK hiphop tune and making a huge house track of his own.
Tee Mango – Into The Wild
Tee Mango is someone whose sample-based house tunes I really like, this another fun one.
Syncbeat – Music
Excellent italo-ish tune reissued on Running Back.
Ms Banks – Chat 2 Mi Gyal
Banks is awesome, really fun rising London MC. I put this tune in the list because it’s an awesome beat and she channels old-school Missy E in the flow.
