Hot on the heels of their packed 10th Anniversary show at 93 Feet East in London last week the team behind Midnight Riot are getting ready to unleash their skills on the Scottish Disco and House Festival on 16th April at SWG3 in Glasgow. The festival features both Yam Who? and Jaegerossa on the bill so if you are up in Scotland or fancy a road-trip over the Easter week-end then make sure you check that one out. On the release front this month Midnight Riot keeps the 2002 Disco heat turned up full with a rather special album from Danny Kane, singles from Clavette & Boogietraxx, Claborg & Miss Kelli and a new heater from chart toppers Platinum City which is just about to drop whilst label regular Mark Brickman pops up again with a couple of club ready remixes. The Reflex Remixes – The Voice Of Q / Ruth “Silky” Waters

French don The Reflex launches his fully licensed new label Discolidays. Reworking two mighty underground cuts from the original multi’s for the very first time. ‘The Voice of Q’ is probably the better known cut and was originally released in 1982 on Philly World records. It has become a cult classic and never remixed from the stems until now. The Reflex brings it up to date and pushes the cosmic vibes even further. With both tracks clocking at 118 bpm, ‘Everybody Loves a Good Funk’ by Ruth “Silky” Waters is a rather obscure ghetto disco-funk produced by none other than John Davis, with heavy synth bass, super punchy horns and a one hell of a groove. Al Kent also delivers the love with some real Mccoy sleeve design too. Make sure you get your vinyl order in sharp!

The Melbourne homie Harvey Sutherland’s latest cult jam, ‘Feeling Of Love’ is a rare collaboration with the godfather of the Los Angeles scene DāM-FunK. Bringing his trademark vocals and a deadly synth solo to the party ‘Feeling Of Love’ is a superb EP with remixes coming from UK’s India Jordan and South African born, UK based Esa. India Jordan’s remix highlights DāM-FunK’s soothing vocals, stacked with gliding synth licks and quivering pads that drive the track throughout, underpinned by an ever-rolling TR-909 house drum groove, whilst Esa brings a fusion of retro 80’s sounds combined with a funky afro groove plus a huge, arpeggiated synth bassline that fuels the fire from the outset.
