Powering through the the start of the year Yam Who’s Midnight Riot has been on fire over the past few weeks with stellar releases from C Da Afro, Birdee, Mark Brickman and Clavette & Bubs & Lee Wilson as the label continues to go from strength to strength in this, it’s 10th anniversary year.

Breakbot & Irfane – Remedy

Kicking things off in fine 2022 style Breakbot and drops his next EP ‘Remedy’ on Ed Banger Records. Alongside vocal collaborator Remedy, who’s featured on several of Breakbot’s smash singles over the years. ‘Remedy’ has all of that Breakbot aesthetic from classy funky sounds through to electronic-disco with a mature finesse. Combining a timeless blend of instrumentation from phasing, wah-guitar, live drum grooves and expressive Fender Rhodes pianos. A low-slung disco hit from the off, Breakbot & Irfane’s ‘Remedy’ is guaranteed to bring a sunshine smile.

Bibbi – Don’t Mind
WARM
WARM present Bibbi ‘You Don’t Mind’. A four track House infused dancefloor weapon. With hints of early 90s Euro House prime for those vintage Mediterranean sunset dance sessions all mixes are sure fire winners here. This is the only solo outing for Bibbi on vinyl with this release which is a real shame as she clearly had talent that somehow didn’t translate to capturing the interest of a wider audience. The record was produced by ‘SUN’ Nkotsoe, formerly one half of Monwa & Sun and a popular solo act after his eponymous debut in 1990 and Looking For Love in 1991. Originally released in 1992 on Diamond Music and officially licensed to RE:WARM records via Gallo Record Company.

Collaborating with local musicians and recording with analog equipment, Cho & Random Impetus utilise jazz, funk, soul and disco melodies to create rich 1970’s-esq sounds. Ray Mang delivers 2 mixes, modern disco burners, bringing his boogie-down vibe into full effect, that’s still tough enough to work the dancefloor during the early hours of the morning.

London’s Faze Action are back with a bang on the remix frontline flipping the title track towards their signature sound, where Afro beats meet proto house, with lashings of disco vibes. Weaving together Peter Matson’s affinity for the dancefloor with African influences, this EP culminates in a record that is both genre-bending and timelessly danceable

Having relocated to Sardinia, where Musta has built his analogue studio, this modular obsessive has a love of working with machines. Crazy P’s Hot Toddy goes for the jugular with a straight up hypnotic proto house bubbler. A thumping bassline, dynamic synths, he reworks Venessa hooky vocals to dynamic effect, creating a truly timeless track that will have you moving til the sun comes up!

Boston space funksters Soul Clap flip lead track ‘Le Bonheur’ inside out with their uber classy interpretation that floats along on a gorgeous deep house groove. A must have!
