Candido – Thousand Finger Man (Strange Rollers Remix)
Candido – Thousand Finger Man (Strange Rollers Remix)
Candido is an artist with a fascinating background. Hailing from Cuba he was the first percussionist to play multiple conga drums and pioneered the use of playing multiple percussion instruments simultaneously. He would go on to play with Dizzy Gillespie and Sonny Rollins in a storied career. He is, however, perhaps best known for his time with Salsoul. His incredible track Jingo is one of the precursors of house music.
Thousand Finger Man was a rework of a track from his 1969 album of the same name. The Salsoul version which would feature on the landmark album ‘Dancing and Prancin’ in 1979 would go onto be one of the key tracks of the disco era.
UK producer ‘Strange Rollers’ have given this one a brilliant disco house refit. The new kit gives it some serious energy for the club, the loops are fierce and well judged, add in some exceptionally well worked percussion and a top class arrangement and this is a track which feels just as fresh for 2018 as it must have in 1979.
It’s up as a FREE DL as well so make sure you grab this one!
