LV Premier – Son Of Sound – Truth Be Told [ District 30] & EP Review
Based in Brooklyn Son Of Sound has a great EP dropping on District 30 next week. Packing four cuts of various shades of glorious deep house it’s a real tour-de-force of a release which is equal parts interesting, cool, club ready and assured. It touches on many different facets of the genre from classic deep sounds to disco to jazz to dubbed out funk.

Kicking off with Don’t count on me for love it’s a track at the warehouse end of the house spectrum. Heavy synths merge with wonderfully warm keys to create and off kilter but eminently danceable track. Vocal chops add to the swirling atmosphere.
Deep Tri-state has more of a classic deep house vibe to it. Ace keys, rotating basslines, and big synth lines along with a brilliantly understated Got Love vocal all come together for a track which has a moreish feel.
Our premier today is Truth be told, another club focused track. Almost in two separate parts it opens with a cool NY disco feel before morphing into something deep and funky. Jacking beats, jazzy keys and huge synth stabs all come together for a seriously cool track which has a timeless feel to it.
Final track is Say more which despite a much more laid-back feel fits perfectly tone wise with the other three EP tracks. Again it has slightly jazzy overtones which intersect with dubbed-out looped-up vocals and a real groove of a bassline.
Extremely nice work!
