Premier: Thatmanmonkz – Wash Good & EP Review
Following up releases on the cream of electronic labels including Delusions of Grandeur, Classic and Dirt Crew underground legend Thatmanmonkz is back with an classy double tracker on his own Shadeleaf Music. We spoke to him at length about this release and his career so far which you can check out HERE
Our premier today is Wash Good a thumping peak-time house jam. It’s a track with classic Detroit basement jams imprinted on it’s soul but which still has 2019 written all over it, the production is completely off the scale. Heavy drums, a rolling bassline, smooth keys and some brilliant vocal clips all come together for a track which is a true timeless underground club anthem.
Flip side of the release Easy Still with Pete Simpson in his ‘A Brother Is’ guise is a deep and yearning synth and vocal groove. Sublime keys underpin a defiantly powerful and endlessly soulful vocal. An utterly beautiful track, one which you can get entirely lost in such is it’s hypnotic power.
This release has future classic written all over it, 2 contrasting tracks which work perfectly together, one for the basement jams and one for the soul.
A top of the class release. You can grab it from: https://shadeleafmusic.bandcamp.com/album/sm-20-thatmanmonkz-easy-still-wash-good
