How can it possibly be Easter already? 2023 continues to inspire with a real-time influx of dance-floor shakin’ disco continuing to rule the roost in clubs across the globe. Midnight Riot are doing their finest to keep those dancefloors powered and this month saw some extremelly tidy releases from C Da. Afro, The Love Doves, Sammy Deuce who is becoming a real favoruite at the label and Reece Johnson as well as a proper heater from Riots own Jaegerossa and Volume 3 of Yam Who’s own remix series both of which you can check below.
On the gig one we mentioned last month but is not right upon us is Yam Who bringing the disco heat to Horsemeat Disco’s Up On The Roof on the 7th April. You can also find Jaegerossa at the Scottish Disco Festival playing alongside a whole host of international house and disco talent including Craig Charles and Greg Wilson.

Hot Toddy feat Karen Harding – So Good To Me

One of the early true champions of Nu Disco, Hot Toddy is still at the forefront of the genre today.
As a member of Crazy P, Chris Todd AKA Hot Toddy makes his Glitterbox debut with ‘So Good To Me’ featuring vocals from Karen Harding.
Toddy establishes a laid-back groove with the help of a rich piano hook, Harding’s delicious vocals, that overlap and weave together, with the lower tempo allowing us to luxuriate in the sheer production quality.

Jaegerossa – Side Of Soul

After a succession of Traxsource Top ten heat and glowing DJ support from Dave Lee, Purple Disco Machine, Mousse T & The Reflex to name just a few, Jaegerossa returns flexing some serious sonic muscle with another peak time guaranteed floor filler for Midnight Riot.
‘Side Of Soul’ has deep house grooves crossing into disco and funk flavours aided by live bass, moog & synth licks.
An infamous baseline most house heads will recognise, this will appeal to fans of Art Of Tones, Michael Gray right across to those who love a bit of Emmaculate, Ron Basejam, Dirty Channels & even Dam Swindle.

Donna Allen – Serious (Michael Gray & Wayne Soul Avengerz Remixes)
[High Fashion]
Donna Allen’s ‘Serious’ is a stone-cold boogie classic and once again High Fashion gets to work bringing the track into 2023, with label regular Michael Gray stepping up first with a tasteful, string-laden disco-house re-make that’s actually quite radically different, using enough of Allen’s vocal and original version to make it familiar.
Wayne Soul Avengerz and Odyssey Inc take an alternative approach, retaining most of the original instrumentation whilst upping the tempo and beefing up the beats.

Midnight Magic – I Found Love

Although recorded over 10 years ago in Midnight Magic’s nascent early period that produced many of their legendary hits, the song never received an official release; until now it has been heard only by select ears and lucky concert-goers.
The package comes with a grip of luminous remixes by Dimitri From Paris & DJ Rocca, Sophie Lloyd, Perel and Derrick Carter, some solicited at the time of recording and some brand new, but all exceptionally fresh!

Rocoe & Body Heat Gang Band – Body Heat Disco Vol 2A

Following their debut album in 2017, Rocoe and Body Heat Gang Band’s return with a second album, ‘Body Heat Disco Vol 2 A’. Body Heat Disco is the soundtrack of the Body Heat monthly parties, hosted by Rocoe in Milan where live music and club music come together, spanning various genres and building in energy as the night progresses.
Body Heat Disco vol 2 A is instrumental, with Rocoe stepping back and letting the band showcase their virtuosity. This work features a talented lineup of incredible musicians, among them is Derrick McKenzie of Jamiroquai, who lent his exceptional drumming skills to the record.
The five tracks are exclusively characterised by carnival-like jazz-funk atmosphere perfect for a dance floor crowd.

Processman & Cady – Adupe

Next up on File Under Disco, is Brazilian Processman & Cady who together bring a pair of South American beauties in the form of Adupé & Sou Baiana. With remixes provided by JKriv, Jutro Mundo, and Dicky Trisco.
First up ‘Adupé’ is deep in percussion, with beautiful, layered vocals ,rich with boogie-laden vibes. Dicky takes on ‘Sou Baiana’ , stripping it down and pumping it up into a rocking dance floor bomb. Finally, Rio’s Joutro Mundo pushes the original of ‘Adupé’ into a deeper, downtempo lush rework that’ll make those Carioca beach bars and kiosks groove at sunset. Further digital versions include Dicky no-nonsense, dance floor focused ‘Ruff Dub’ of ‘Adupé’ and Processman’s ‘Disco Mix’ which draws on more French Disco influences.

Sound Support – Higher
[Toy Tonics]
Toy Tonics presents a new producer team: Sound Support consists of two enthusiastic synth and house aficionados that everybody knows (in the scene): Lars Dales from Dam Swindle and Lorenz Rhode (keyboard wizard and producer genius).
Together they are doing extremely groovy, jazz-influenced dance music that connects the good things of 1990ies house with the indie disco of the 2000s.
There are a lot of key influences on this record here, from Daft Punk & Laurent Garnier to DJ Harvey and Masters at Work. In any case, it’s clear that Sound Support have found their signature sound and there is much more of that to look forward to.
Toy Tonics is the key label for the wildstyle house scene and Sound Support fits perfectly.

AWANTO 3 HQ FILES Party – Volume 1
[Rush Hour]
Awanto 3 aka Steven de Peven, returns to Rush Hour with ‘Party’, featuring Jos De Haas (New Cool Collective) on percussion and Stefan Schmid (Zuco 103) on the keys.
Party was born in a village located in Belgium while house sitting. Initially, his mother was asked to take care of some chickens, a goat, dog and donkey but he decided to take care of them to help his mum out. The vibe of the house was grimy. This setting affected his thoughts and after he took care of the animals, he had an energy to escape to his MPC to form the basis for a possible new album.
When he got back to Amsterdam, he started to work out some of the sketches from the ghost house together with Stefan and Jos in Studio K at Sloterdijk. ‘Party’ is the result.
