Yam Who? – Disco Juice – July 2022
As we head into the second half of 2022 Midnight Riot have been keeping their 10th Anniversary heat turned up full. With the first of their Ibiza gigs under their belt to a rapturous crowd they will be heading back to the white Isle for part 2 of their summer residency on the 16th July at Out in San Antonio. Also well worth checking out is the Party In The Park in Chorley on 23rd July which features both Yam Who? and Jaegerossa alongside a host of disco and house legends. Grab your tickets HERE.
On the release front Midnight Riot has also been keeping them coming hard and fast including tip top releases from Platinum City, Da Lukas and the brilliantly monikered KulaKingz & His Bitter Truth. Also well worth popping in the diary is the release of the fifth edition of Disco Made Me Do It on July 15th. We’ve had a sneak peak and it’s packed with summer enhancing Nu Disco.
Sai Galaxy – Get It As You Move

Sai Galaxy is an electronic band fusing the sounds of synth music with Afro-Disco flavours, drawing inspiration from 1970s Disco, Afro Disco & West African Funk. Founded by producer ‘Sai Galaxy’ and features a range of guests from around the globe such as Olugbade Okunade plus featured guest vocalists Gabriel Otu, Ray Ledon & Vanessa Baker. Many performers in the band are political refugees living in exile but the music they make is full of joy & positivity and perfect for any party situation.

Solu Music – Feelin’ Love Again

They’ve released previously on Sofrito, Highlife, and Heist Recordings, and ‘Harambee’ comes to us via their own platform, Alma Negra Records. True to form this EP goes global, with their multicultural approach, and burning passion for Latin flavours, live percussion, maximum rhythms, and beats! Harambee means “let’s all pull together” in Swahili, and through several trips to Kenya, this homage to the country was born.

Kaleta. For the new single Purple Disco Machine, aka Tino Pionek, teams up with renowned DJ, producer and multi-instrumentalist Bosq who has been celebrated for his exploration of Disco-Funk and Afro-Latin styles, their individual styles culminating to create an all encompassing fiery piece of modern disco excellence. Instantly kicking into gear, ‘Wake Up!’ features slick basslines, varied Afro-Latin percussion, energetic horns, and more, to create a heavenly slice of soulful disco house. Strut present the first ever official compilation bringing together the complete in-demand reggae / disco singles of Risco Connection between 1979 and 1980.
Featuring choice reggae / disco covers, from ‘Ain’t No Stopping Us Now’ and ‘Good Times’ to ‘I’m Caught Up (In A One Night Love Affair)’ and ‘It’s My House’, the dub version of ‘Ain’t No Stopping Us Now’ become a firm favourite of David Mancuso at his famed Loft parties. ‘Risco Version’ brings together all of the vocal versions, dubs and extra tracks from the singles. Featuring an interview with Joe Isaacs and liner notes by journalist Angus Taylor, the audio is restored by Sean P and fully remastered and cut loud and proud by The Carvery.
Various / Boogieland / Chapter One – Compiled by Funky French League
Boogieland is the first compilation conceived by The Funky French League. This collective of Parisian DJs have chosen to dedicate this first volume to the French Pioneers of Disco Funk. Inspired by the artists of the American scene these artists of the 1970’s and 1980’s, whose names are for most largely unknown outside of their original country were the early creators of the original French touch followed 20 years later & made famous by the likes of Daft Punk, Cassius, Bob Sinclar and many others.
Stop Bajon – Primavera (Michael Gray remix)

Napolitano artist Tullio De Piscopo’s ‘Stop Bajon’ was a massive mid-eighties club hit and Chicago House anthem. JKriv – Something Else EP

Label co-founder JKriv delivers a trio of all-original cuts on his Something Else EP, bringing together a cast of featured hometown Brooklyn talent to center dynamic songwriting with club-ready vibes. On the A1 title track, a playful funk-laden bassline lays the foundation for an explosive hook and soaring vocal performance from Brandon Markell Holmes. Dynamic live instrumentation takes center stage in the soulful Try Again, which builds to an anthemic peak as guests Nic Hanson and Phenomenal Handclap Band intone the song’s hopeful message. On the flip, the laid-back boogie groover Shoulda Been Me slow-burns with heavy bass, percussive rhythms, and serene synth-work to support the layered vocal textures by Toribio.
