Fouk were behind one of our favourite EP’s of the year with their outstanding Blue Steel EP on Heist Recordings From which you can check the French tinged disco gem Don’t You Want to Boogie below. Not content with that they also delivered one of the finest remixes of the year in the shape of Naked for Kraak & Smaak.

Just nipping in before the year closed out Fouk’s Junktion also dropped the very tasty Tribute EP on their label Outplay and he put together this ace disco edged mix for us.

We asked Fouk to pick their Essential 3 tracks for 2021.

Westcoast Goddess – Home Slice

The fat fat 80’s style synth work is what does it for us! Bass, chords, everything that makes us want to dance is in this tune! Super funky!

Kraak & Smaak – Cul de Sac

You know the old soundtracks from (mainly French/Italian) cinema back in the 60s/70s? We’ve always had a thing for that. K&S released a new EP this year called “Scirocco”, which was inspired by this sound and it contains this gem. (Listen to the rest of the EP, it’s really good!)

It definitely makes us think of the works of Dutch composer Ruud Bos from that time period. For a small bonus check this out by Ruud Bos (especially the part from 2 minutes 7 seconds on)

Moods – Talk About It

From his album “Music Ruined My Life” from this year, superb stuff. We’ve always admired Moods’ musicality in his works and his insane knack for the lazy groove! This album is a culmination of that, much respect!
