Russian producer Scruscru keeps his 2021 golden run of form going with a return to Deeppa Records for the second edition of their Perfect Duality Series. It’s another packed EP this time featuring two tracks from Scruscru, one a collaboration with Timoshenko, alongside tracks from Common Mode & Flabaire.
The EP opens with our premier today and it sees Scruscru in sublime form with the divine jazz edged downtempo groove of Slightly Wiggle. It’s a track which envelopes you in it’s warm embrace.
Scruscru & S Timoshenko keep the jazz overtones going with Jubilee Boulevard, it’s a track which owes much to the jazzy 80’s boogie of Quincy Jones, Roy Ayers and Herbie Hancock. It’s a wonderful track.
Over on the flip Common Mode takes things deeper with the broken beat of Black Mirrorm it’s stuttering percussion and dreamy flutes could easily sweep you into a euphoric dreamlike state.
The EP closes out with Flanaire’s Shelter featuring a Rhodes solo from JD73. It’s a deep and classy house moment.
Deeppa is rapidly becoming a favourite label here as part of the incredible outpouring of stunning underground music which is coming out of Russia at the moment. It’s definitely one to keep an eye on.
