Belgian producer UC Beatz has been in the game since the 90’s and is currently having something of a golden moment. His Razor-N-Tape EP from last year was one of the highlights of 2019 and he most definitely keeps that momentum going with his latest release on Masterworks.
Taking over the reigns from Chevals on the well loved Masterworks Masters 10″ Vinyl series he has given us two scintillating house cuts here in Mojoy and Exotic Fruits.
Mojoy is first up and it’s a deep dance-floor groover of the highest order. It’s the type of track that locks your floor in tight and just doesn’t let go. Packing super smooth keys and a divine soulful vocal it definitely gives a nod of the head in the direction of the 90’s but through the lens of all that is good about house production in 2020. It most definitely sounds fresh and immediate. Superb production!
Over on the flip, and our premier today, is Exotic Fruits a smooth deep slice of subtle jazz infected house. An ever so deep but energetic bassline provides the engine for this keys driven gem. Providing plenty of texture and verve there is hooky percussion and subtle crowd noises but it’s the keys which really stand out here. They have all the class of some of the finest offerings of classic 90’s cuts on the likes of Soulfuric and King Street but again designed perfectly for today’s dancefloor.
This vinyl is 100% class.
