Paper Street Soul – Fallin Down (Andy Buchan Remix) & EP Review

The unstoppable Citizens of Vice label is back with a super tight remix EP for Paper Street Soul’s Saurishian Dancers EP which flew off the shelf’s back in July.

Paper Street Soul is the coming together of well respected UK Nu Disco projects Cuz Electric (Rich Hall, Megan Jones) and Slync (Ian Stanford) . Their aim is to fuse elements of disco, boogie, funk, soul, jazz and house together via classy vocals and live instrumentation. From what we’ve heard so far it’s definitely an act to get excited about.

The EP features three super tight remixes from Sophie Lloyd, Simon Mills and Andy Buchan.

First up Sophie Lloyd adds some Balearic cool to Always on my mind with deep smooth synths, warm drums, and heavily reverbed looped up vocals. Add in a brilliant lead vocal, lazer synths and dreamy keys and this remix is definitely standing strong against some of the classics of early 90’s Italian Dream House scene which perfectly sound-tracked many an Ibizan sunset.

Next up is Andy Buchan who has had a stellar 2019 he takes Fallin down off in a funkier direction. Warm bass notes and smooth hammond keys work side by side with vocal stabs and guitar licks to set the scene for a hooky vocal. Classy work. Check the premier above!

Finally Simon Mills, who is one half of legendary UK electronic act Bent, takes Moonpig into deeper and more laid back but equally Balearic territory. A bubbling bassline and ever so hooky vocals take this off towards summer bliss. Just add sunshine and cocktails for the perfect musical experience.

Brilliant EP!
